Vanilla smart cake

Here we go with another dessert! Can you tell I like desserts more? Yah, I like them, not too much to eat but to prepare I love it, and you will see many desserts recipes here on this site.
Now I want to tell you something about how we prepare desserts and basically every dish here in Romania, well, we do it from scratch. We do not have premixed or casserole meals  that you can take and mix or heat in the microwave and the dish is ready to eat, no we do it with real ingredients.
You cannot buy from a store a box with mixed stuff in it, you add some milk and put it in the oven and the cake is ready, no we always use eggs, flour, sugar, cream, butter, etc to prepare desserts and anything else. And for this I am lucky, because the taste is amazing and I  know what I eat.
But enough with the small talk let's go back to the recipe, and here you can watch the video.






Ingredients

4 eggs
150 gr confectionery sugar
125 gr melted butter at room temperature
115 gr flour
500 ml warm milk
a pinch of salt
grated lemon zest
vanilla extract


Directions
  • whipp the egg whites with a pinch of salt
  • mix the yolks with the powder sugar, and add the butter 
  • I have sifted the flour over the bowl and add the lemon zest and vanilla essence
  • mix in the warm milk
  • at the ens with gentle moves incorporate the egg whites and try not over mixing

Pour the batter into a round cake tray with the diameter of 22 cm (8-9 inch), the tray is lined with parchment paper.
The oven is preheated at 150 degree C (300 degree F) and I bake the cake for about 50 min, until the cake has a little bit of color and when I shake the tray it is not liquid at all.
If is needed keep in the oven for a couple of minutes longer until is not liquid.

Let it cool at room temperature, and then keep it in the refrigerator until serve.
Powder with sugar and serve with pleasure and friends.


As you can see the Smart Cake is very easy to prepare, it doesn't need too much ingredients, or some expensive ones, and you and your family is going to be very very pleased serving a home made dessert.
